Swets & Zeitlinger Transfer Function Models for Multidimensional Systems with Bounded Spatial Domains (revised Version)

چکیده

Multidimensional (MD) systems describe relations between signals depending on two or more independent variables. They are also called distributed parameter systems, if the independent variables are time and space. The only conventional models for their description are partial diierential equations. This is in contrast to onedimensional (lumped parameter) systems, where a variety of diierent models including transfer functions is used. This paper extends the concept of transfer function models to multidimensional systems with bounded spatial domains, i.e. systems which can be described as initial-boundary-value problems. These transfer function models are useful for system analysis and as a starting point for the derivation of numerically eecient discrete simulation models.

Thermal performance of TAPS heat pipes with non-condensable gas blockage

Over 124,300 heat pipes were installed in vertical support members on the Trans Alaska Pipeline System. Infrared surveys in the early 1980s revealed cold topping on some of these heat pipes. The cold topping was due to an accumulation of non-condensable gases, a by-product of corrosion or chemical dissociation of anhydrous ammonia. In 2000, Alyeska Pipeline Service Company undertook an experime...

A Simplified Design of Multidimensional Transfer Function Models

Multidimensional transfer functions are an effective description of physical systems with time and space as independent variables. They allow to construct discrete models which are suitable for computer implementation. The derivation of multidimensional transfer functions is straightforward for systems with self-adjoint spatial operators. It is based on the application of suitable functional tr...

Digest of IEE Coll. on Multidimensional Systems, London, 1998/225, pp. 1/1-1/7 TRANSFER FUNCTION MODELS OF MULTIDIMENSIONAL PHYSICAL SYSTEMS

Transfer functions models of linear systems are a well established tool for the design and analysis of one-dimensional systems. This is not the case for multidimensional physical systems, given in terms of initial boundary value problems. Here, the only mathematical description of widespread use are partial di erential equations. This contribution shows, how the one-dimensional transfer functio...

Multidimensional Wave Field Signal Theory: Transfer Function Relationships

The transmission of information by propagating or diffusive waves is common to many fields of engineering and physics. Such physical phenomena are governed by a Helmholtz real wavenumber or pseudo-Helmholtz complex wavenumber equation. Since these equations are linear, it would be useful to be able to use tools from signal theory in solving related problems. The aim of this paper is to derive m...
